Childhood cancer is something we carry in our hearts every day. It shapes our mission, our work, and the families we serve. September, however, is a special time when communities across the nation join together to shine a brighter light on this reality. Childhood Cancer Awareness Month gives us an opportunity to honor the children who are fighting, remember those we’ve lost, and rally support for families navigating the unimaginable challenges of pediatric cancer.
For us, this month carries extra weight. Avalynn’s story will forever be part of who we are. She was full of light, love, and strength beyond her years. Although her journey with cancer ended far too soon, her legacy continues to inspire the work we do each day. Through Avalynn’s Hope Foundation, we are committed to bringing comfort, encouragement, and support to families with medically fragile and disabled children.
Why September Matters
Awareness months can sometimes feel symbolic, but September is about much more than a gold ribbon. It’s a reminder that childhood cancer is real, it is devastating, and it affects far too many families each year.
Every parent of a child with cancer knows the whirlwind of emotions: fear, exhaustion, uncertainty, and yet, incredible courage. Families face not only the battle for their child’s health but also the strain of mounting medical costs, time away from work, and the daily stress of caregiving.
This is why awareness is so vital. By shining a light on the realities of childhood cancer, we invite our communities to step forward in compassion. Awareness leads to action, and action creates change—change that can lift burdens, provide resources, and offer moments of hope when they are needed most.
Standing With Families
We know firsthand how much it means to have someone walk beside you in times of crisis. That’s why Avalynn’s Hope Foundation exists. Every donation, every act of kindness, and every shared story helps us serve families who may otherwise feel unseen or alone.
When a family receives a grant or a visit from one of our Family Ambassadors, they are reminded that they are not forgotten. There is a community standing with them, holding them up during some of the hardest days of their lives. This is the heart of our mission: to ensure no family faces these challenges without support and love.
Save the Date
As part of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we’re also preparing for a special gathering this fall. On October 2, 2025, Avalynn’s Hope Foundation will host our Childhood Cancer Fundraiser Dinner at The Union in Oroville. It will be an evening of community, music, and hope, with proceeds directly supporting families in need.
We’ll be sharing more details soon, but you can already reserve your spot or learn more here.
As we move through September, let us remember: childhood cancer is not just a statistic. It is children with dreams, families with hopes, and communities with the power to help.
Thank you for joining us in honoring these children and their families—not only this month but every month. With your love, your prayers, and your support, we can continue to turn Avalynn’s light into a lasting legacy of hope.
